New Minimum Wage: Nigeria to increase VAT

The Federal Government is to increase Value Added Tax *VAT) by 50 per cent to pay the new national minimum wage, Bugdet and National Planning Minister Udo Udoma said Tuesday. Mr Udoma said the raise, first announced by the chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Babatunde Fowler, will create the required funds to meet the new wage obligation being approved by the National Assembly. Ekiti night club robbery: Two to die by hanging

An Ado-Ekiti High Court has sentenced two persons, Adedayo Oluwayemi (27) and Daramola Seyi (23), to death for robbing a night club in the state capital. Justice John Adeyeye, who handed down the sentence, held that the duo were guilty of the two-count charge of armed robbery and conspiracy preferred against them.
