Real Madrid completes the signing of Eden Hazard

Ugochukwu Nwankwo – Sports Editor Real Madrid have agreed a deal to sign forward Eden Hazard from Chelsea for a fee that could exceed £150m. Hazard will be presented as a Real player on 13 June, subject to a medical. The Belgian joined Chelsea from Lille in 2012, and scored twice as they won the Europa League final last week against Arsenal. “The memories he leaves us with will not fade,” said Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia. “He provided all who watched Chelsea play with great entertainment and many match-winning contributions, and for that we thank Eden enormously. “He has been a model professional throughout his time at the club, a wonderful individual to have around and a joy to work with.” In seven seasons at Chelsea, Hazard won the Premier League and Europa League twice, the FA Cup and League Cup. He was also named Chelsea’s Player of the Year on four occasions. In addition to his 110 goals, he also made 91 assists for Chelsea. Eighty-five of those goals and 54 of the assists came in the Premier League – only Frank Lampard (147 goals, 90 assists) and Didier Drogba (104 goals, 55 assists) have been involved in more Blues goals in the English top flight. NBC suspends AIT and Raypower indefinitely

Ugochukwu Nwankwo – Editor On Thursday, The National Broadcasting Commission [NBC] announced the indefinite suspension of the operating license of ‘Africa Independent Television’ and Raypower FM belonging to Daar Communications PLC. NBC sent a letter on October 2018 to the management of Daar Communications warning them to exercise caution in the use of social media comments on their top programs like “Kaakaki” They [NBC] also said the media house, AIT, refused to heed it’s warning and continued broadcasting “Treasonable” comments. The second letter sent by NBC noted that AIT featured a documentary titled ‘The Nigerian Judiciary on trial: Lessons from Kenya’ In this documentary, they [AIT] accused the judiciary of delayed judgments and the Electoral body [INEC] of hoarding its Server results due to rigging. NBC further described the documentary as ‘prejudicial’. However, Chairman, CEO of Daar communications PLC, Raymond Dokpesi has responded to NBC allegations insisting his Media house is not guilty of the charges and allegations placed by NBC, he had this to say: “There is high handedness of the government in deploying all instruments of power to threaten, intimidate and harass my organization for my affiliation with the opposition party, People’s Democratic Party [PDP]” He[Raymond] blames the suspension on politics played by APC. Outburst in court!, EFCC petitions for another Judge in Fayose’s trial

Ugochukwu Nwankwo – Editor The EFCC chairman, Ibrahim Magu has signed a petition seeking the transfer of criminal trial of the former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, away from the trial judge, Mojisola Olatoregun, of the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court on the grounds that it had “lost confidence” in her. The transfer came following a heated exchange in open court during the last proceedings between Judge Olatoregun and Rotimi Jacobs [SAN], the counsel to the EFCC. An angry Mrs Olatoregun lashed out at the EFCC lawyer after the latter made comments she deemed critical of her ruling. “Mr Jacobs, you dare not, you are not competent to look into my ruling, to evaluate my ruling, you are totally incompetent, whether you are a Senior Advocate or not,” “You can only go on appeal, Mr Jacobs. Ademola Lookman is a 21-year-old who plies his trade with the blue side of Merseyside, Everton. He joined German side RB Leipzig on loan in the just concluded 2018/2019 season, where he made 11 league appearance and scored 5 goals.
