Ondo State Governor narrates his near kidnap incident

Ugochukwu Nwankwo – Editor Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu says that travelling on Nigerian roads has become a major source of worry for the rich and the poor. The Ondo Governor was in a live broadcast programme on the government-owned Ondo State Radio-Vision Corporation [OSRC] on Sunday night. “I have encountered them once and even as a governor with my crew, I remembered I had to tell my people to move on. My orderly was shaking. But I said wherever they (kidnappers) were, we would confront them,” Akeredolu said. “There is no need to run away. On my way to Ibadan the last time, we saw them and we moved but the advantage is that by the time, we shoot into the air, they scampered into the bush. “Even if I walk they cannot kidnap me. I have passed the stage. Kidnapping is not limited to those poor people alone, and I agreed that those with convoys might be safe.” The governor stressed that he cannot be kidnapped because he rides in a convoy of armed security men however, he revealed that his convoy was almost attacked on the Ibadan-Akure road by the suspected kidnappers. Elderly man cuts off 11-year old hand for alleged theft

Ugochukwu Nwankwo – Editor A Lagos State Police Command have reportedly, arrested a 61-year-old, fish farmer, Jeremiah Obifor, for allegedly cutting off the hand of an 11-year-old boy. The Spokesperson for thestate command, DSP Bala Elkana, said in a statement, on Sunday that the man cut off the boy’s hand who he suspected had come to steal his fish. The incident took place in Igando, Lagos. Elkana said that the victim’s name is Goodluck Amechi, he also confirmed the suspect has been araigned after the victim’s foster mother, Doris Isaac, reported the matter at the Okoko, police station. He said On June 7, at about 12.20pm the boy’s foster mother who resided at Ajanaku Street, Okoko, reported the matter at the Okoko police station.
