Sevilla have announced the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as their new coach.

The former Spain and Real Madrid boss joins the club on a three-year deal. Lopetegui has been out of work since he was sacked by Real Madrid last October after just 10 league matches in charge of the club.

His stint with Real Madrid in 2018 was one to forget, he was unbeaten in 20 matches as head coach for the Spanish National team but failed woefully in the 2018 world cup.

He takes over from Coach Joaquín Caparrós who was diagnosed with chronic leukemia. Joaquin is now expected to take a directorial role at the club as he has strong ties with the Andalucia club side.

Sevilla finished 6th in the just concluded 2018/2019 season, by their standards they had a bad campaign for failing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League and the signing of Julen Lopetegui would be in effect of that.
