- Assures on Mba/Cardoso Road
- Commissions Father Sadiku and St. Mary’s Primary School equipped with an ICT Centre, Library and Standard Basketball Court
The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat yesterday paid a visit to Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA where he assured of increased budgetary allocation to the Education sector as a means to enhance the standard of Education in the State.
He made this disclosure during the commissioning of Father Sadiku Memorial Nursery/Primary School, St. Mary’s Model Nursery/Primary School (RCM), Oba Fatai Aromire Library and ICET5 Centre and a Standard Basketball Court, all in Abukuru.
Addressing the mammoth crowd at the event, Dr. Hamzat specifically pointed out that the Lagos State Government places high premium on the education of pupils, maintaining that children must be educated in good environments for the standard of education to improve.
“What is important for us is education and it is fundamental to the development of the State; you will see a big increase in education budget,” he said.
He also emphasized that the government needs to get it right at the primary level, being the foundation of education.
Dr. Hamzat also disclosed that approval has been granted for the procurement of tablets for all primary school teachers in the State to aid understanding and improve their teaching skills.
“Education is one of the most important things we must do as a society; we cannot afford to have functional illiterates, it is essential to have children that are well educated in a good environment. I thank the Chairman and the entire management of this Local Government Area for embarking on the initiative to build the commissioned facilities” he asserted.
In his welcome address, Hon. Fatai Adekunle Ayoola, Executive Chairman, Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA, expressed his administration’s passion for the process of development among adolescents, hence the resolve to provide a comfortable learning environment for the kids in the area.
He restated his commitment to transforming communities in the local government as part of a greater Lagos, promising that his administration will continue to advance new leadership templates on grassroots governance in the local government.
Expressing his excitement at the prospects of doing more for the benefit of the people in the area, Hon. Ayoola solicited for the assistance of the State government for the repair and maintenance of Mba/Cardoso Road, dualization of Kirikiri Road, provision of well-equipped schools and initiating empowerment programmes for youths and women in the community.

The Deputy Governor in his response gave an assurance on the construction of the road as it is among one of the 116 Roads that would be constructed by the Lagos State Government next year.
The Abukuru Road constructed with interlocking blocks by Hon. Ayoola was also commissioned by Dr. Hamzat before he took his leave.
Dignitaries at the event included, the two Lagos State House of Assembly members for Ajeromi-Ifelodun Constituency 1 and 2, Hon. Luqman Saad Olumoh and Hon. Fatai Oluwa.
Thousands of School Bags and Note Books were distributed to all the kids in both schools as a way of sustaining their learning process.
Other respectable guests were, Hon. Kamal Ayinde Bayewu, former Chairman, Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA, Hon. Kalejaiye Adeboye Paul, former LAGFerry Boss, the Education Secretary, Hon. Solomon Aboluwodi and the Prince himself, Asiwaju Rabiu Adio Oluwa, Lagos West Senatorial Leader of the APC.
