Yesterday [Monday] afternoon the police paraded two self-proclaimed Ex-convicts in relation to the recent college robberies.
The suspects both claimed to have been released from the Abolongo Prison in April, on May 13th, they alongside three others unidentified suspects terrorized and robbed students of Special Federal College of Education, Akinmoorin, near Oyo town.
The state Commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu, said,
“Five notorious hoodlums, who were armed with guns, cutlasses and some other dangerous weapons, dispossessed some of the students of their money, laptops, cell phones and other valuable”
The police also said in a statement after the arrests were made,
“Five laptops and seven expensive cell phones belonging to some of the students were recovered from the hoodlums.”
Two of the hoodlums who identified themselves as Sunday Samuel and Idowu Clarkson, were arrested in their hideouts within Oyo town. The arrested suspects confessed to their crimes and also affirmed they were just released from Abolongo Prison in April, 2019.
Their confessional statements later led to the arrest of two of their criminal receivers, who identified themselves as Oloko Qudus and Simon Chucks. Though more suspects are still at large.
Oyo State Police command has promised to bring all criminals to justice as no one is above the law.
